Brass is Back! (But Not the Way You're Used To...)

While polished brass was an extremely popular finish for everything from door hardware to faucets about 20-30 years ago, this finish has fallen far from its former glory, with many manufacturers dropping brass from their finish options completely. If you are someone who is into fashion and jewelry (like I am!), you may have noticed that warmer metal tones, like gold and rose gold have been on the rise lately, after a solid decade of silver, platinum and white gold topping the trends. Now that I'm married, a gold monogram necklace like this one is on the top of my shopping list!

Interior design trends have been following suit and new finishes like Delta Faucet’s Champagne Bronze and Amerock Hardware’s Gilded Bronze are popping up everywhere! These finishes avoid looking dated by keeping polish levels to a matte and adding an antiqued patina that looks more “turn-of-the-century” than 1980’s.

I love the way that gold tones pop against cool whites and neutrals and I am definitely using vintage brass accents for my future home remodeling projects.

If you are scared to try this trend, why don’t you try just switching out the hardware on your bathroom vanity? Low cost and low commitment, but I’m sure once you see it in your house, you will love it as well!
