Revolt Style Studio | Small Business Spotlight

Stevie Storck Design Co. - Revolt Style Studio

Q: What inspired you to start your own business? Well, I've always wanted to own my own business, even before I knew what that meant or what I wanted it to be. After I got a degree in business, I went to work in the retail world to gain some experience. I learned a lot, but corporate retail didn't quench my creative thirst. I spent at least a year conceptualizing what kind of business I wanted to open. After a good look around, I realized that a vintage and handmade mobile store was perfect for me. It blended my individual style, business mindset, and love for travel into a business that would be unique to the growing art scene in York City.

Q: If you could describe Revolt Style Studio in one sentence, what would it be?
Revolt Style Studio is a vintage and handmade pop-up shop and mobile boutique.

Q: So, Revolt Style Studio is a pop-up shop and mobile boutique. Tell us more about what that means and where we can find you! Well, as of now, a selection of my products are available at Sunrise Soap Company in both their York and Gettysburg locations. The pop-up shop will begin in 2015. I'll start traveling to local art and craft shows, setting up a booth on First Friday York, and any other great opportunities that may come my way. The mobile shop will hopefully come to fruition by next summer. The plan is to remodel an old camper into a traveling boutique. I hope to work with various organizations in the region to travel around as much as possible to sell my vintage and homemade goodies.

Q: Who do you create for? (aka who is your ideal customer?) My ideal customer is someone who appreciates creativity and style and wants to support their community by shopping local and handmade.

Q: What do you love about vintage pieces? I love giving new life to forgotten objects. Whether it be clothing, accessories, or housewares, vintage items always have such character. Each time I find some thing new, I wonder what stories these pieces hold. Often times, vintage clothes were handmade to fit each individual person. How cool is that? Every piece is unique. Plus, I definitely enjoy the hunt.

Q: Why should readers shop Revolt Style Studio on Small Business Saturday? Coming from working at the mall last Black Friday, I'm so excited to be a part of Small Business Saturday this year. Small Business Saturday gives local businesses a great opportunity to connect with new customers. Since this is my first Small Business Saturday, that's something I'm definitely looking forward to. I'm not sure which location of Sunrise Soap Company I'll be working at that day yet, but I'll have stuff in both locations so don't hesitate to stop by!
